Mellon was present at the Third Research Symposium on Incisional Hernia Prevention in Hospital del Mar Barcelona. The most outstanding specialists in this field were present and had constructive discussions about small bite closure, which was absolutely a hot topic at this congress.
Professor Jeekel, from Erasmus University MC Rotterdam, The Netherlands gave a closure lecture. The title of his keynote lecture “Prevention, the past and future”. He presented long term data on mesh and small-bites suturing. For the future part he talked about The Switch® as an innovative promising suturing device in development to apply the small-bites.
